A beginner would probably have a UK rating of between 50 and 100. A world champion would be about 200-210. The US and international ratings are approximately these multiplied by ten. Of course rating is a combination of many factors, such as experience, desire to improve, time available to do this, and, to within 10 UK points (very roughly), luck. These are ratings of present or former club members who still play, up to date for Dec 14th 2004, courtesy of the ABSP ratings page .
